This message is for any mental health nursing student that may have information on addictions.

I am looking to start a placement next week within my social work course. I will be working at an addiction service, that provides support and services to individuals with addicitons such as drug and alcohol, and their families/carers.

This work also invloves what they call 'Addiction Nurses' and 'Health Addiction Services' and I just wondered if anyone had any experinece of working with addiction and would have any advice for me. In addition to this I would be really interested on the theory that nursing students may learn about addiction and ways in which to treat addiciton.

Therefore any information on advice would be much appreciated.

Sorry I have just realised that general nurses may also have knowledge on addictions (don't know why I specifically asked for Mental Health Nurses?). So if anyone could give me advice it would be much appreciated :)
