Re:Allan 2 Months, 2 Weeks ago Karma: 0
I am a 3rd year social work student and have just joined cali this year as I did my first two years in Aberdeen then needed to move back home (missed my partner and financial reasons flat in city centre was so expensive!)

SO am kind of new to Cali but I have been fast tracked through registration and enrolment because third year social workers start now and go straight out on placement, so I have been faced with all the problems of starting with a new uni but have the good experience of know the system (well kinda LOL). But think it seems like a great uni and I know a few people who studied there. Plus the library is fab. I am sure you'll love it!!

Best of luck and by the sounds of things you're doing everything right. So don't worry and enjoy ur last study free time while you still can :)

Not too sure with your course but I know that the first year is usually quite straight forward and not too demanding. So would really be up to yourself. In my first year we had four modules each semester and an assignments with word counts of 1500 to 2000 words.

So just depends, you will be taught your module and will prob have activities to do to aid your learning and it'll really be up to you how much you put in. In my course i knew people who did absoultely no studying (not that I am advicing this) and still passed their essays! Think I put alot of work into the things i enjoy think Sociology but hated Psychology so found this really hard to motivate myself to study it.

You'll find you're own routine with study all I can say is don't leave it too late to start assignments as there is nothing worse than feeling under pressure to do essays. Oh if you need essay help or anything with writing the study support section here is really good and I see there is free ebooks which is really cool :)

yeah is Harvard ref system. But don't worry about writing degree cos thats not really til 3rd year. Ur first year is like an HNC then your 2nd year is like an HND, then onto the degree so don't worry about writing cos I'm on my degree and you've read my writing LOL.

If you need to double check buildings or rooms just give me a shout GOOD LUCK I am sure you wont need it :)

Oh yeah got to remember to post in the right section, sorry Allan hope you don't mind I am sure you remember what it was like starting out as a student and the anxiety people can have :)
